The Ginkgo was the only species of tree that stood resolute at the heart of the Hiroshima devastation and survived, leaving scientists in awe. Today, one of those trees is revered as a ‘bearer of hope’, with prayers of peace engraved in its bark at the Peace Park in Japan.
